Jonathan Santucci was drafted in the second round, 46th overall, by the New York Mets on Sunday night in the MLB draft.

Santucci is the highest Duke player drafted since 2020, when Bryce Jarvis was drafted 18th overall by the Diamondbacks.

Santucci was a two-way player for Duke as a freshman and into his sophomore season, which was cut short by an elbow injury. He returned this season and was 6-1 with a 3.31 ERA, striking out 90 batters in 58 innings.

Santucci missed about a month late in the season because of a rib injury. He's the 97th player from Duke to be drafted; 42 of those have come in coach Chris Pollard's tenure.

The slot value for the 46th overall pick is $2,031,700. Santucci could sign for more or less than that; it’s more of a guideline of what his signing bonus could be, rather than a requirement.
