Right fit for Morgenstern

Jacob Morgenstern is just one of the several prospects to recently commit to the Blue Devils and it was just a matter of finding the right fit, he told Devils Illustrated.
While there's been some consternation about Chazz Surratt's decision to flip to UNC the news isn't all bad for Duke football recruiting. On the contrary, the Blue Devils could still be poised to ink the best class in modern school history, because players like Morgenstern have turned down many other Power Five offers to commit to Duke.

Morgenstern, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound athlete from New Canaan (Conn.) St. Luke's, made a major statement when he committed to Duke. So did fellow Connecticut prospect Koby Quansah. While Quansah is ranked higher both players had comparable and impressive offer lists, meaning that when they said 'yes' to Duke they said 'no' to many other schools in major conferences.
Boston College, Clemson, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wisconsin are just some of the other schools that had offered Morgenstern at various points in the recruiting process.
"It was just a good fit of academics, great football and a distance I could work with," Morgenstern said.
Duke wasn't as close to home as some of the schools that had recruited or offered Morgenstern. Then again, it was closer than some others.
Morgenstern went on to say that Duke recruited him to play either safety or outside linebacker. In short, he's a 'back seven' defensive athlete that might best be slotted at safety now, but with it reasonable to conclude he will continue to fill out into his 6-foot-3 frame, it seems likely that linebacker might be in his future.
