Duke’s preseason schedule is now complete with the announcement that a former Blue Devils point guard will bring his team to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a charity game.

Arizona State, coached by Bobby Hurley, will come to Duke for an exhibition game on Oct. 27. The game, dubbed the Brotherhood Run, will start at 6:30 p.m. and proceeds will benefit Duke Children’s Hospital.

“We are excited about the Brotherhood Run, playing Arizona State for a charity exhibition game. This is the first time we've done something like this,” Duke coach Jon Scheyer said through a news release. “Duke Children's Hospital has been a great partner to our program for a long time, starting with Coach K, and to keep that relationship going means a lot to me and to our program. We couldn't be more excited to partner with them to raise funds and awareness for all the incredible work they are doing.”

Hurley was inducted into Duke’s Hall of Fame in 2011; his No. 11 jersey was retired at the end of his senior season. He was Duke’s point guard for its first two national championships, in 1991 and ’92, and he broke the NCAA men’s basketball record for assists in a career (1,076). Hurley was the Most Outstanding Player of the 1992 Final Four and a two-time All-America selection.

"I'm grateful to Jon Scheyer and Duke Basketball for working with Arizona State Basketball to make this exhibition game a reality," said Hurley through a news release. "It will be special for me to return to Cameron Indoor. Our team is excited for the opportunity to compete against a storied basketball program prior to embarking on our regular season schedule.

“The collaboration between Duke and Arizona State to put together this charity exhibition game supporting Duke Children's Hospital is very meaningful to both programs."

Hurley is entering his 10th season with the Sun Devils. They’re coming off a 14-18 season but restocked with a talented freshman class, including Jayden Quaintance and Joson Sanon.

Duke and Arizona State have only played once and one of these coaches played in the game; that was in Scheyer’s senior season, when Duke beat Arizona State (then coached by Herb Sendek) 64-53. Scheyer scored a game-high 16 points and had six assists and four rebounds.
