Duke earns No. 2 seed in the East

Duke has earned the No. 2 seed of the East Region, after what many believed to be an improbable run to a league title in the ACC Tournament.

The Blue Devils’ ACC Tournament title jumped them from an anticipated four seed all the way up to the two line.

Duke’s opening round game will be held in Greenville, S.C., against Troy (22-14) out of the Sun Belt Conference. Should Duke advance to the next round, there is a potential matchup with former Blue Devil player and assistant coach Steve Wojciechowski and Marquette, who enters the NCAA tournament as the No. 10 seed of the East Region.

Marquette will have to first defeat No. 7 seed South Carolina, who holds a home court advantage of sorts in the Greenville area.

Duke also finds No. 1 overall seed Villanova in the region, as well as No. 3 seed Baylor, No. 4 seed Florida squad and a challenging No. 6 seed SMU team.

Fellow ACC teams Virginia (No. 5 seed) and Virginia Tech (No. 9 seed) are in included int he region as well. The University of North Carolina Wilmington also earned a spot in the East Region, as the Seahawks enter the tournament as a No. 12 seed and will play Virginia.
