Coach K out to see Pocius on Monday

When Greg Paulus was telling the world what coach Mike Krzyzewski already knew, the Duke head coach was on the road to watch the other member of his future backcourt. Martynas Pocius and his Holderness School (N.H.) teammates took on New Hampton on Monday afternoon and the 6-foot-5 shooting guard gave a good show despite defeat.
Coach K and Steve Wojieckowski made the trip to New Hampshire and saw Pocius put in another strong performance. The Lithuanian scored 23 points and connected on five three pointers in a 89-80 loss in his first real game in front of his future college coach.

“He was pretty excited and accommodated them with a strong performance,” Holderness head coach Jamie Gallagher said.
The coaching staff, even with an excited crowd and throng of attention, had a chance to see Pocius’s deep threat and dead-eye shooting. Prior to Paulus’s announcement today, Gallagher also touched upon Pocius’s ability to play the point.
“It would be something he’d have to work on because he’s more of a two,” Gallagher said. “He’d really have to work on it. I could be wrong but I don’t see him playing the point.”
Gallagher also said the Duke staff had not talked to him about Pocius’s point guard skills.
