A Recap of Shavliks In-Home with Duke

After a long night of looking for the scoop regarding Shavlik Randolph and if he had or had not committed, we were fortunate enough to get the scoop straight from the source. We spoke with Kenny Randolph this morning about the in-home visit with the Duke coaching staff and addressed the number of rumors flying around.

"There was no commitment made last night," said Kenny, "however it was a truly great meeting with a lot of information coming from Coach K and Coach Wojo about Shavlik's potential place at Duke University."

The Randolph family was really impressed with the amount of information presented to the family regarding such issues as Shavlik's role in Duke's program, and the potential of playing with the newest Blue Devil, Shelden Williams.

"They have been up front about Shavlik and Shelden playing together all along. We were never worried about it, and we still believe that should Shavlik attend Duke, they can play together." added Randolph.

The issue of two great players in the same class isn't one that worries the family with Coach K. "He's coached a ton of great players in his time at Duke, we liken Shavlik and Shelden to a situation similar to Battier and Brand," said the elder Randolph.

As far as a timetable goes, the decision point is drawing near for Shavlik. The in-homes wrap up this week and a decision is expect soon after. "It could be coming soon, he's got to look at everything and then digest it. Once that's done, we are confident he will just know."
