Defense carries Duke to victory
DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke bounced back from its loss to Arizona in an impressive way, defeating Michigan 79-69 at Cameron Indoor Stadium Tuesday night.
Unlike most of Duke's victories this season, the strong performance was not marked by stellar offensive play but rather an outstanding effort on the defensive end of the hardwood.
The Blue Devils flustered Michigan in the opening half, holding the Wolverines to just 30.8-percent shooting from the field and 16.7-percent from 3-point range. The latter statistic was huge for the Blue Devils, as Michigan was noted for its ability to shoot the ball effectively from the perimeter.
