I believe we are going to see more claims coming out. If true I certainly hope that these sickos are convicted and put where they can never even see a kid. A problem I do see is there will be some false accusations coming out that will ruin the lives of innocent people also.

Is every apparent victim going to come out of the woodworks now that they've seen all the pub the Penn St. situation has gotten?

Why could these people not come out sooner? Apparently, the kid at Syracuse was abused for years upon years by this coach. Why can they not go to their parents or someone at the time? I doubt they fear for their life, and as a teenager he certainly knew what was going on with him and the assistant coach shouldn't be happening.

Just an interesting coincidence that this is coming out just on the heels of Penn St. Could be entirely coincidence, or not.

Jwill it just could be fear and embarrassment Imagine yourself at that age or younger and it happening to you. First there is the fear of your peers and also embarrassment. Perhaps they may feel no one will believe them. And yes it may be even shameful for a victim to go to their parents. Remember these are kids. They are being abused by adults that are in a responsible position and sometimes the kids may be too young to understand what is really going own.

Sure, the recent PSU events have "inspired" others to step forward and speak of the abuse they suffered. That is merely logical. However, as to why they didn't come out sooner? Speak to parents? etc?

These are fairly complex issues in play. These kids are the victims, obviously. They are confused; they are ignorant. In many cases they are losing their innocence in an instant. They go from worshiping the abusive adult to fearing them or questioning themselves. Many victims blame themselves, feel ashamed, fear the backlash. There are lots of reasons they don't speak. It's part of the trauma.

It is a sick situation and it is a bigger problem (as statistics attest) than anyone would like to acknowledge.

That's what everyone is saying, but it's still really hard for me to fathom. Apparently, the main victim's brother-in-law is now confirming the abuse story, in addition to claiming he was also abused by the Syracuse assistant. At least I think I heard that right last night on TV.

Also think I saw quotes from Boeheim and Syracuse saying that there was an investigation about this circa 2005, and not one person would corroborate the claims of abuse. But now, the victim's brother-in-law all of a sudden is backing it up.

Sexual abuse on young children is pretty much the worst thing ever. Murder 1A, this probably 1B. If the Syracuse assistant was doing what the victim is claiming, he deserves everything coming to him. But this is just an odd case, coming out right on the heels of Penn St. and this guy is now 40 years old. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy and that the apparent victim is lying, but I'm not gonna jump to conclusions about this. Partly because I don't want to, I like Boeheim and Syracuse, but it's just odd to me. Lots of gaps of information and the floodgates are probably only just opening for this Syracuse case and for Penn State/Sandusky. I just have a gut feeling that this thing with Syracuse isn't going to be nearly as big nor as deep as what was apparently going on at Penn St.
