Dude, you might as well give up. What you are saying is 100% correct, but.... Our fans are not the brightest when in group settings.

Do we really need for you to come over to our board and explain to us about the negative perception the UK fan base has around the country? Guys make comments about hats and you some how turn that in to racial profiling. The reason UK fans have that negative perception is because that is what the national media pushes for. UK had a black basketball coach for ten years and their offensive and defensive coordinators for the current football team are both black. The head coach in waiting for the current football team is black. UK had a black womens basketball coach for over a decade. UK was the first SEC football team to play a african american on the football field but all we hear about is the all black Texas Western team beating an all white UK team and how racist Rupp was even though Dean Smith took an all white basketball team to the final four the following year. Sports Illustrated wrote a story in the early 90's that focused on the Texas Western game and called out Rupp for being a racist. Glory Road made a movie recently and had UK fans waving rebel flags although that only happened in the deep south. When the director was called out he replied "that's Hollywood." Pat Forde, former Louisville Courier Journal writer, wrote a article during the movie's release called UK and race. Interesting timong don't you think. It was on the front page of ESPN's college basketball page for nearly 2 months during that respective summer. We have all these black coaches that we're providing opportunities to while the rest of the nation continues to sit on their hands and we're the racist. An article on the college football page wrote this past season talked about the lack of black coaches in college football and talked about the few opportunies they're given. The writer made no mention that both UK's current coordinators are black with Joker being the head coach in waiting. Intersting don't you think? The media does to us much like what they do to minorities. If negative things happen in minority communities, the media inforces the race of the community just as the racist say it's because they're black. Negative things happen in KY and it's because they're poor redneck hillbillys. No single state is stereotyped to the extent the state of KY is. My brother and I are from the mountains of eastern KY and both our families are now in the upper 1% of wage earners in this country so I speak about the topic of stereotyping with first hand life experience. To give you an example of how the media misleads they always talk about how crazy the UK fans are and how they run off coaches but UK has had only one coach in the last 70 years not stay more than 10 years and that was Eddie Sutton. He only left because we ended up on probabtion. That being said, I'm on message boards the other day and they're talking about how we'll run off Gillispie and Like we do every coach we have. What? UK has been a model of consistency for coaches for crying out loud! After John Wooden retired at UCLA, that school switched head men five times in the next 14 years. Three of those coaches each made it only two years. Intersting don't you think? Nobody talking about unrealistic expectations or crazy fans running off coaches over there are they? Becasue they don't fit the stereotype of rural redneck hillbillys. It doesn't sell for them so they don't push it. In summary you watch way too much TV. UK fans on catspause are a few thousand freaks out of a few million. Most UK fans love basketball and understand how riculous it is to think their team could compete for a championship year in and year out. You won't find a bigger UK fan than me but it's a game played by kids and enhances ones life very little. It's entertainment.....period.
