The USA keeps rolling and Wazzu men's hoop sophomores DeAngelo Casto and Klay Thompson keep contributing. Both Casto and Thompson helped the USA in their preliminary round game against Egypt as the Americans again built a large first quarter lead, 33-11, and never trailed from there in eventually securing another easy victory, this time, 112-55 over the Egpytians at the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand.

Thompson contributed his highest scoring output yet of the tournament, throwing in 11 points in just under 19 minutes of playing time while Casto continued with his hot hand as he hit one of his two shot attempts and has now made eight of his 11 shots in the tournament for a tournament-leading 73% field goal percentage accuracy rate. Thompson finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists while Casto added three points, two boards and a block in approximately 13 minutes on the court.

As they did in their previous win over France, the Americans shot out to a quick lead, forging an 11-3 lead a mere four minutes into the game, and never trailed. Egpyt kept the deficit at eight at 14-6 for three more minutes but then surrendered a 19-5 quarter-ending run that sealed the win for the USA.

The USA will next play Greece in the second round on Monday, July 6 at 12:30am [Pacific].
